Cohesive Communities Report - Overcoming Sikh and Muslim Conflict
The Cohesive Communities report is the culmination of a project by which Faith Matters explored narratives between Sikh and Muslim communities which threatened to create local and national hotspots of tension and the programme also looked at the commonalities between these two communities. It is to be used by communities as a resource to develop cohesion and look at divergent dialogues within these two faith groups. This is particularly the case given the case that the English Defence League has tried to tout Sikh communities through its previous poster boy, Guramit Singh, who has supposedly now left the English Defence League after being thrown out of the group. However, some of the anti-Muslim narratives of division that are promoted by the EDL have resonated in some small sections of Sikh communities and we believe that groups like the EDL are no friends of any group. They are a threat to our country, our communities and our futures.
