Radicalization | Cohesion

Studied in France and is a convert to Islam. Leads the Caring for Converts project since 2009 and provides telephone signposting and development support for the Caring for Converts (www.caringforconverts.com) project under the aegis of Faith Matters.

Amardeep joined the Faith Matters team in January 2011 as Project Coordinator for the Sikh-Muslim Media Monitoring and Response Project. Before joining us she worked for the Strategy Unit of the Welsh Assembly Governments’ Department of Children, Education, Lifelong Learning and Skills. Amardeep completed her BSc in Politics at Cardiff University in 2009.

Amardeep  has been involved in community work for the past 8 years, including working with young people to set up youth forums; taking groups of disadvantaged young people on residential trips; and volunteering as a director on the board of a local charity. Her interests centre around young people and social action.

Amardeep is fluent in Punjabi, can speak conversational Hindi and French, and understand basic Urdu.

Andrzej Warhaftig

Andrzej Warhaftig has a long record of working with "not for profit" organisations. In addition to his work with Faith Matters, he is a trustee of a Muslim Women's charity, and a director of a Community Development and Finance Institution. Previously he was a director of Business Link, a Chamber of Commerce, two Enterprise Agencies and a national sports association (all companies limited by guarantee).

He provides bid writing services, evaluations, research, project management (and delivery) for Government departments; including the Home Office, Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Communities and Local Government, London Development Agency, Learning and Skills Council, Government Office for London, Local Authorities and the private sector.

Hasina has a BA (Hons) Upper Second Class degree in English Language and English Literature from the University of Westminster in London.

Before joining Faith Matters as Project Coordinator for the Developing Diversity Project, Hasina carried out volunteer work with local community groups organising events, workshops and activities for women and other service users from the London Borough of Camden. This enabled her to gain valuable experience of working with members of the community and carrying out development and outreach work listening to the voices of women in order to determine their needs and support, as well as encourage them to achieve their goals.

Hasina has also worked with children and young people in various settings such as schools and colleges providing tuition and support for English, Literacy and ESOL needs.

She has a passion for working with people - especially those from under-represented groups in order to empower them, whether it is providing a voice for Muslim women or motivating teenagers to aim high and aspire to achieve great things.

Hasina is also liaising with schools, colleges and community organisations at the moment to promote the Our Faiths and Our Shared Futures Programme developed by Faith Matters.

Iman Abou Atta is the Deputy Director of Faith Matters.

For over 10 years, Iman has built bridges between European and Middle Eastern communities through medical, community and charitable organizations in the Middle East.

She has been working with numerous interfaith projects within the region and has also travelled extensively to give lectures and deliver workshops to interfaith groups in countries such as Taiwan, the United Kingdom and The Netherlands.

Iman was instrumental in the development of a ground-breaking project looking at tensions in some localized areas in the UK between Muslim and Sikh communities and she helped to lead groups of British based Sikhs and Muslims to Corrymeela in Northern Ireland, which has been involved in facilitating conflict resolution programmes for over 30 years.

Iman has also been instrumental in the development of youth and women programmes with Faith Matters nationaly and internationally .These programmes will focus on issues such as human rights, citizenship, community cohesion and conflict resolution.

Marie-Charlotte has a MA in International Relations and a MA in Politics both gained with honours at the Institute of Political Studies of Bordeaux, France.

Before joining Faith Matters, Marie-Charlotte acquired strong experience on issues related to intercultural education and human rights through working with the UNESCO right to education programme and various human rights and educational NGOs. Marie-Charlotte also worked with faith leaders in France through her work on human rights and religions with Amnesty International France.

She is passionate about building mutual understanding between people from different backgrounds and strongly believes that education is the best way to build a generation of active citizens engaged in interfaith and intercultural dialogue.

Ranjeet has a Bsc (Hons) in Information Systems Development and experience in working within the ethnic minority communities along side her professional life. Whilst at university Ranjeet undertook networking with the local communities to organise a number of interfaith events (including musical concerts, lectures and festival celebrations) through which she gained experience of working in diverse atmospheres with people from all walks of life.

She held the position of former Education Secretary for Ealing Sikh Centre in 2009 and has represented youth community groups on many occasions.

During her voluntary work for the community she has dealt with issues effecting young ethnic communities living in Britain today and arranged seminars for youngsters on universal matters such as confidence building, presentation skills, CV workshops and arranging fundraising events.

Ranjeet has an outgoing personality and excellent communication, presentation, teamwork and networking skills. She is currently focussing on the Sikh and Muslim media monitoring and response group project, creating the group and to bring together all aspects of the project for commencement.

Ranjeet is fluent in Punjabi, and additionally can speak Hindi and understand basic Urdu. She thoroughly enjoys partaking in community work and has always played a part in local activities building a good rapport with the local community.

Sarah has a BA (Hons) in Politics and International Relations from Royal Holloway and also has an MA in War Studies from King’s College London.

Before joining Faith Matters as Project Coordinator, Sarah worked with teenagers in immigration removal centres and campaigned on behalf of human and refugee rights organisations, during which she gained experience of working with faith groups and building dialogue between communities.

Zuber has been working with Black Minority Ethnic voluntary organisations specifically in the South East for over eight years. He has gained vast experience in the social sector where he has specialised in change management, business development, marketing and creating partnerships within organisations. His past work has included promoting community cohesion amongst youth from various religious backgrounds. Zuber is fluent in four languages and brings with him significant marketing experience.

Zuber has been with Faith Matters since 2009 and continues to ensure that the Organisation goes from strength to strength.
